The most popular of all parachute games is Para-jaws or "Lifeguard" as the kids like to call this thrilling game. Under the deep blue sea (parachute) there are Jaws 1 & 2 waiting to pull unexpected beach goers into the deep waters. Lifeguards are waiting closely to pull the victims to safety.

Super Fit Class

Each month I will choose a class to be the, "Super Fit Class" of the month. I have an entire bulletin board dedicated to this class. If your child's class is nominated they may bring pictures of themselves playing some sort of sport and I will display the picture on the board.

Week Two

We had a class meeting outside to discuss the Presidential Challenge categories. This week the students are getting timed in the shuttle run and the mile. First graders will run 1/4 mile, second graders will run 1/2 mile, third and fourth graders will run a full mile. Before we start the mile we practiced pacing ourselves, taking breaks, not running fast & breathing.

The following three pictures show a student getting timed in the shuttle run.

The Physical Fitness Program (Presidential Fitness) includes five events that measure muscular strength/endurance, cardiorespiratory endurance, speed, agility and flexibility. This program helps assess the current fitness level of youth and encourages them to stay active.

First Week

We played a getting to know you game this week. We have a lot of new friends at Bowlesburg this year. Our game lets everyone interact with their peers while learning a little bit about each other.

Knock Out

Knock out is a game the students can choose to play during recess. Here are a few fourth graders learning this new game.

Welcome!

Welcome back to another great year at Bowlesburg!

Back to school backpack safety tip from my chiropractic friend:

"Distribute the weight properly. Put the heavier items on the bottom and against the back to keep the weight off of your shoulders and maintain a better posture. Adjust contents in the bag so that the surface resting against your child's back is as flat as possible." Matt H.

Jump Rope for Heart Speaker

Today the fourth graders had a very special visitor. His name is Brennon. Brennon (and mom) came to school to share their inspirational story. Brennon is a sibling of a fourth grader and has had two heart surgeries and will need to have a third. Brennon is full of life and we thank him and his family for joining our Bowlesburg family today. Stories like Brennon's are the reason we continue to support Jump Rope for Heart.

Hockey Skills

The kids were using tennis balls to practice using both sides of their sticks. They were careful not to hit the balls too hard or they would roll away from them.
Plastic pucks were used in this drill. The kids were practicing passing to other members in their group.
